To be TIRED, or NOT to be TIRED?

To be TIRED, or NOT to be TIRED?

That is the Question!

Who knew the answer could be

“CHECK THE STATE OF YOUR GUT”!

“I feel EXHAUSTED all the time!”

“My energy JUST PLUMMETS around mid afternoon every day!”

“I JUST can’t seem to drag myself out of bed in the morning!”

“I go to bed tired, I wake up tired!”

“I REALLY don’t have the energy to deal with the kids today!”

And so on …and so on…

WHY? …WHY? …WHY?

Has it occurred to you that it could be that your gut is the culprit behind your low energy? It is astonishing how many people never consider the critical role played by digestive enzymes, stomach acid and gut bacteria in terms of energy production, to say nothing of how eating foods that typically inflame the gut (such as wheat and gluten) and rip apart the ‘tight junctions’ that really should remain ‘tight (hence the name) in order to keep pathogens out.

Low stomach acid – so VERY COMMONLY misdiagnosed as HIGH stomach acid – means that you cannot assimilate your animal protein, B vitamins, zinc and other vital minerals. They are all essential for energy creation – both physical AND  mental! It is a typical mistake to think that heartburn or indigestion is due to high stomach acid. For most people, it is in fact LOW stomach acid. Alkali burns as much as acid does, and to go and pop over the counter antacids like Rennie’s etc, or take inappropriately prescribed PPI drugs that suppress acid, (due to an assumption, rather than a test, that it is high stomach acid) seriously deteriorates gut health and subsequently whole body health. And the first noticeable things to go will be your energy levels, a loss of taste for meat, bloating, burping or gas and/or a sense of excess fullness within one hour after meals.

Protein is an extremely important macronutrient required for energy – it is broken down in the body (by stomach acid if it is animal protein), to amino acids – which are known as the ‘building blocks of energy’.  Bad breath and flatulence (smelly passing of wind)  are common as unassimilated protein can lead to putrefaction of undigested protein in your gut. A charming thought!

The Academy of Wellness, where we teach the Practitioners of the Future, and empower the public through practical and supportive short courses, would love to support you with access to a FREE HOME TEST to check if your stomach acid is high or low. (Use Password “MyImprovedHealth” to access this test and two others that may interest you). If you wish to discuss your results with one of the Attending Practitioners, please don’t hesitate to book a free 15 minute online support chat.

B vitamins are very commonly associated with low mental energy, as well as poor physical energy. They are required RIGHT AT THE CORE of where energy is produced in your body – the mitochondria in each cell of your body – in order to create the ATP molecules that give you the energy to get through your day, as well as  to think, concentrate, study and be creative in your brain function, and mood management. (They say “B makes you Brilliant!” 🙂 ) You can think of ATP as the sound your car engine makes as it fires up when you turn the key in the ignition switch. Does it rev into action straight away. Or does it struggle to kick into action and you need to pump the accelerator pedal a few times? This ‘accelerator pedal’ analogy is the equivalent of you needing that morning or afternoon cuppa coffee or tea to kick your energy levels up a notch!

But you might ask – HOW are your B vitamins connected to your gut?

Well now – as it turns out, in addition to eating the appropriate B vitamin laden foods like organic eggs, meat, fish and chicken, your GUT BACTERIA (probiotics that make up part of what is called ’The Microbiome’) make B vitamins! SO …if you do not keep your Microbiome working well, your energy (and immunity and mood!) will drop off significantly – and guess what questions YOU will be asking soon?  – Pick one from the beginning of this article! B vitamins and gut bacteria – they are BOTH SO critical for healthy whole body function!

SO… start looking after you gut microbiome by eating more fermented foods like sauerkraut and other fermented vegetables, full fat plain organic bio-live yoghurt, and water kefir and kombucha (you can buy a starter kit from Amazon or other places where you can begin to make your own – you will be astonished at how very easy this process is!

We have really ‘zinged’ up the therapeutic properties of our Therapeutic Anti inflammatory Sauerkraut and other fermented vegetables  which we would love you to have with our love and compliments. Please use the password mentioned below in the list of complimentary recipes.

Zinc, and other vital minerals such as calcium and magnesium, are critically reliant on sufficient stomach acid, for assimilation from food. ATP exists as a complex with magnesium. Magnesium is therefore involved in all reactions that synthesize or require ATP,  including protein synthesis. You will recall from the above content, that both ATP and protein are essential for energy production.  Zinc, which also requires stomach acid for assimilation, is an essential co-factor for two energy promoting functions: 1) the enzymes involved in energy metabolism, and 2) an enzyme that synthesizes the ‘heme part of hemoglobin in the blood. Severely zinc-deficient diets (or as often occurs, low stomach acid which leads to poor zinc assimilation) can result in anemia.

Furthermore, the proteins in a function called ‘the electron-transport chain’  in energy production, contain ‘iron–sulfur clusters’ which are involved in the transfer of high-energy electrons … and ultimately the production of ATP molecules for energy!
